2. Le’Veon Bell Will Be the Jets’ Leading Receiver
The Jets’ offense has had some issues with Adam Gase as the head coach. One issue they have had was getting the ball in the hands of their playmakers. While they do not have a dominant wide receiver, Le’Veon Bell is a very valuable receiver out of the backfield. The Jets may use him as a receiver in an attempt to spread out this talented 49ers defense.
Adam Gase loves to run screens. This may help against an aggressive defense like the 49ers. Bell is a very patient back who is still able to make plays. He had some trouble against the Bills last week but Gase may try to get Bell more involved this week. The Jets will need Bell to play like the former All-Pro back he was a few years ago with the Steelers.
With the lack of playmakers the Jets have on offense, they will rely on the one guy they know they have. However, Bell may have some issues running the ball. The 49ers have a very tough run defense which will make it hard for him to get going on the ground.
However, the Jets offense will still try and get Bell going. The way that they’re going to do that is by giving him the ball as a receiver on screens and setting him out wide as a receiver.
