4. Sam Darnold Will Have Two Turnovers
The Jets’ offense has had tons of problems since Adam Gase’s reign. One player who has really suffered has been their young quarterback, Sam Darnold. The offense lacks variety and, in turn, defenses can plan very easily for what they will face.
The lack of weapons around Darnold and the less than stellar offensive line make it almost impossible for him to reach his potential. To make matter worse, Jamison Crowder will be sidelined, too. He hasn’t been perfect, but there are moments that show he could be a promising quarterback. Before that develops into consistency, New York needs more around him.
The 49ers have a fantastic defense. They have an excellent pass rush, star linebackers, and a very good secondary. This could spell trouble for Darnold and the Jets’ offense. Their pass rush will pressure Darnold into mistakes. Their linebackers are all great in coverage. The corners are very physical and will not allow much separation.
With all the talent on defense in the opposition’s unit, and all the issues on offense the Jets have, Darnold will turn the ball over twice. Although this is never good, not all the blame can be placed on the quarterback.
The Jets have failed Sam Darnold in many more ways then Darnold has failed them. The two turnovers should not be a reason for them to panic. However, they likely will panic and start thinking of their future at quarterback.
