Raheem Mostert Runs For 1,000-Plus Yards

The 49ers featured one of the most explosive running games around the NFL in 2019, and that was largely due to Mostert’s success. He averaged 5.6 yards per attempt, totaling 772 yards gained on the ground, and should only improve in 2020.

He lost touches to Matt Breida last season, but Breida was traded to the Miami Dolphins over the summer. The 49ers also tried to run Tevin Coleman ahead of them both, given his experience with Shanahan from their Atlanta Falcons days, but Coleman’s 2019 high-ankle sprain pushed Mostert up the depth chart. He didn’t disappoint, peaking in the NFC Championship Game with 29 carries for 220 yards and four touchdown runs.

Now that his contract situation is settled and he’s proven his worth, expect the 49ers to lean harder on Mostert in 2020.
