The 49ers Repeat As NFC West Champs
Sure, the division improved this offseason. The Arizona Cardinals’ offense upgraded massively by trading for all-world receiver DeAndre Hopkins, while the Los Angeles Rams cut some dead weight from their roster, and the Seattle Seahawks cut a blockbuster trade for ex-New York Jets safety Jamal Adams.
But it’s not like the 49ers were asleep at the wheel. They made their own trades, acquiring a face of the franchise-quality left tackle in Trent Williams, while shipping DeForest Buckner to the Indianapolis Colts, and drafting a younger version of him in South Carolina pass rusher Javon Kinlaw.
Maybe they can take the training wheels off of Garoppolo in his second full season as a starting quarterback, and get another shot at winning a Super Bowl.
