John Brown, WR, Baltimore Ravens
Speaking of speed, the Packers should kick the tires on a few wide receivers to potentially inject a little more explosiveness into their passing game.
I know Green Bay drafted some receivers in 2017, but none of them have fully developed into reliable assets yet. Brown thrived as a deep threat in Arizona and seems to have revived his career in Baltimore.
In fact, Brown was off to quite the start in 2018 and had it not been for an injury to Joe Flacco, perhaps he’d still be putting up monster numbers.
Either way, Brown offers the deep ball like no other Packers receiver currently does and he can also be utilized in space. Green Bay’s offense needs to get more creative, more versatile and more explosive.
Paying for at least one talented speedster to help things progress wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Overall, the Packers clearly have some work to do. They absolutely should look to bring back some key role players, but depending on what they do in-house, even more holes could be created.
Green Bay certainly doesn’t want to address all of their needs by throwing money at players in free agency. However, former GM Ted Thompson tried to build strictly through the draft and it resulted in just one Super Bowl appearance in well over a decade.
The Packers need to continue to be proactive in their pursuit of building a winner around Aaron Rodgers. If they bring in viable pieces like the aforementioned five players, they’ll be well on their way to living up to the recent Super Bowl hype.
