Weapons, Weapons, Weapons

The reason we all fell in love with the Browns originally, that team in Cleveland has a stockpile of skill-position talent, and it might be an even stronger group than it was last season too.

In addition to Nick Chubb and his running mate Kareem Hunt manning the backfield, Mayfield will have one of the more impressive casts of pass-catchers in the NFL at his disposal, all serving to make his job a fair bit easier.

Odell Beckham Jr will be back on the Browns roster after what might have been the quietest 1,000-yard season for a receiver in NFL history. Beckham, an undisputed star since entering the league in 2014– isn’t a stranger to success and still managed a solid season for himself in 2019.

But in year two of the Browns offense, with a furthered chemistry with Mayfield and a heightened understanding of Cleveland’s offensive scheme, Beckham might be ready for one of the best seasons of his career in 2020– especially considering what he was able to do while fighting through a debilitating injury through most of the season.

Returning to the Browns offense alongside Beckham is another multi-year Pro Bowler and 1,000-yard receiver in Jarvis Landry, an explosive, high-volume target that has been crucial to Cleveland’s passing attack, totaling 287 targets in just two years with the Browns.

And now you’re thinking, “okay, two-star receivers, a top-five NFL running back in Chubb and a former NFL rushing leader in Kareem Hunt backing him up. Clearly it can’t get much better than this.” But oh, my naive friend, you would be mistaken.

Enter, Austin Hooper. A veteran tight end entering his fifth year in the league, joining the Browns in free agency after a career season with the Atlanta Falcons. Among tight ends in 2019, Hooper finished sixth in receiving yards, fifth in catches, and fourth in receiving touchdowns— all while starting in just ten games.

Hooper is right on the cusp of being one of the NFL’s premier tight ends. And now? He’ll be joining an explosive Browns offense that should give him the chance to build on that success from 2019.
