New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are sold on Jarrett Stidham as their starting quarterback to begin the post-Tom Brady era. While that may be the case, it seems difficult to believe they’d pass up on the opportunity to acquire a player of Aaron Rodgers’ caliber if it was available.
There is always uncertainty that comes with drafting a quarterback or trying to take on a reclamation project from free agency. The Patriots wouldn’t have to worry about those concerns with Rodgers considering he’s solidified himself as an elite quarterback.
By adding Rodgers into the mix, the Patriots would have capabilities in their offense they didn’t even have with Brady. New England would be able to capitalize on what they have already built on defense by significantly elevating their offense with a top-flight quarterback.
Perhaps the best part about this idea for the Patriots is that they have the whole 2020 season to build. If they underachieve without Brady, they will have attractive draft picks to use along with significant salary cap space to work next offseason to build around Rodgers.
