Pittsburgh Steelers
There is no rush for the Green Bay Packers to have to get Jordan Love regularly on the field. If it takes two seasons of him sitting behind Aaron Rodgers before it happens, the Pittsburgh Steelers could be in prime position to make a move for the former MVP.
The main variable in this situation is the future of Ben Roethlisberger. He has earned the right to play in Pittsburgh for as long as he wishes before deciding to retire. It appears unlikely that he’d hang it up after the 2020 season, but after the 2021 campaign seems like a realistic scenario.
It was made clear during the 2019 season that neither Mason Rudolph or Devlin Hodges is a long-term answer at quarterback. They just don’t have the necessary intangibles to be successful in that type of role. That’s why pursuing a proven dynamic option like Rodgers makes so much sense.
Having two runs at free agency and the NFL Draft before Rodgers would step onto the field could be more than enough to build a formidable roster around him. They could transition into the post-Roethlisberger era with plenty of excitement being lead by Rodgers at quarterback.
