San Francisco 49ers
The Kansas City Chiefs’ offense flat out got the better of the 49ers’ defense with a Super Bowl victory on the line. San Francisco was put into a position where they needed to Jimmy Garoppolo to make plays through the air. It didn’t pan out, to put it lightly.
Earlier in the offseason, the 49ers lost Emmanuel Sanders to free agency and decided to trade away Marquise Goodwin. To re-tool this position group, San Francisco traded up in the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft to be in position to select former Arizona State standout Brandon Aiyuk.
With Deebo Samuel currently recovering from a Jones fracture and the top complementary receivers being Jalen Hurd and Kendrick Bourne, taking a flier on Antonio Brown makes sense. Being able to put him in the same offense as George Kittle would be incredibly tough to slow down.
Not allowing the Seattle Seahawks to be able to sign Brown should be motivation enough for the 49ers to take the risk. Beyond that added benefit, signing the former All-Pro would help raise the profile of San Francisco’s offense in a needed way.
