5. Ryan Nall
Nall has been a preseason dynamo for the Bears but he has not made the jump to that next level. He had just two carries for eight yards in 2019. Chicago feels as though Nall could turn into David Montgomery’s backup but it is uncertain if that time is now.
The Bears have Montgomery and Tarik Cohen in their top two spots. Cohen has taken a backseat because his skill set is that of a receiver. Montgomery is more of a ball carrier.
This leaves Nall on the outskirts. He will battle for a spot on the active roster with Artavis Pierce. Chicago lacks depth at the running back position which means Nall or Pierce have a chance.
Nall will have to continue his strong play in the preseason. This is a chance for a young running back to turn in some strong practices and make the active roster. As of now, that is a possibility but it is in no way guaranteed.
