Drew Lock Looks Like A Franchise QB

I’m not one to jump on young QB hype trains too quickly. I’m still not completely sold on any of the QB’s from last years draft. However, Drew Lock looks like he could be the answer in Denver. Obviously there were a few mistakes, that is expected out of a rookie. However, if you look at what he had to work with, and what he accomplished, Drew Lock could have a very bright future.

Coming out of college I really thought Lock was going to be a first round pick. He played in the SEC, he had a massive arm, and he was athletic. What was not to like? However, Lock fell to Denver in the second round. It was lucky for both parties, because he has all the making of an Elway Quarterback. He is big, has a strong arm, and isn’t affected by being the underdog.

The Broncos put their faith in Lock this offseason by drafting weapons for him to throw to. GM John Elway had this to say about Lock when going over Denver’s offseason with Mike Tirico and Rich Eisen

Obviously, he still has a ways to go, He’s only started five games. He was on IR for 10 weeks before that last year. This offseason is going to hurt him a little bit because we haven’t been able to get in there, but [he’s] a guy we really feel like has a chance to be a good football player in this league for a long time.

That is high praise coming from one of the games top Quarterbacks in history. Now the pressure is on Lock to prove Elway right.
