His Career Rushing Totals Are Hall Of Fame Worthy
After winning the Heisman and becoming the 1st overall pick in the 2011 draft, Newton was a known commodity as a power runner. Being 6’5 and 245 pounds, he is nearly impossible to bring down with a single tackler in the open field and is the ultimate goal line weapon. Though his rushing ability has reasonably diminished as his age and injuries increased, he is the all-time leader in career QB rushing touchdowns with an insurmountable 58.
When you think of the greatest rushing QBs in NFL history, Michael Vick usually comes to mind as he is the career leader in rushing yards with 6109. Newton comes in 3rd after Randall Cunningham with 4806 to his name, though he only needs 122 more yards to move into second place.
That feat is certainly attainable, though it is understandable that he might start to veer away from running the ball as often while recovering from multiple career-threatening injuries.
Cam places 3rd all time in career rushing yards per attempt (5.1) for QBs and is also 6th all time in the same metric for all players. Assuming he has rehabbed back to full strength and still resembles the player who torched defenses for 45 touchdowns in 2015, the rest of the league should be nervous to see Newton in a Patriot uniform.
