Carolina Panthers: 3 Players to Watch in Week 6 vs. Redskins

Greg Olsen, Tight End

He is officially listed as questionable on the Panthers’ injury report, but all signs point to tight end Greg Olsen returning to action on Sunday. Despite re-fracturing his right foot in the season opener, he returned to practice a few weeks later and has been a full participant the past two days.

The Panthers already have a myriad of options on offense and they have played well without Olsen, but his return is still a welcome sight. Like Thomas Davis, Olsen is a veteran who brings both leadership and a skill set unmatched by anyone else on the roster.

He also happens to be Cam Newton’s favorite target, given that he’s been with the Panthers for the same amount of time and has averaged almost 800 receiving yards in each of the past seven seasons. That includes three straight 1,000-yard seasons from 2014-16, an NFL record for a tight end.

You don’t just replace players like Olsen, and you certainly appreciate them when they are around. And while he may see a limited amount of snaps, I fully expect Olsen to leave his imprint on Sunday’s game.
