2. Big Defensive Addition

The Colts got 11 sacks from Justin Houston in 2019. He will back this season playing out his final year of a two-year contract. Indianapolis has one of the top linebackers in the game in Darius Leonard to go along with Anthony Walker.

Using the No. 13 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Colts acquired DeForest Buckner. Following the trade, subsequently agreed to a four-year, $84 million contract extension with Indianapolis this offseason.

Buckner spent the first four years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers. He totaled 28.5 sacks, including 12 during his Pro Bowl season in 2018. Buckner is entering the prime of his career and will be a force on the interior of the defensive line right away.

The defense is extremely important for the Colts if they want to take a significant jump this season. Buckner can help them do just that. He will require much attention from offensive lines which will free up gaps for other players. Buckner can impact a game in many ways for the Colts.
