Denver Broncos: 3 Players to Watch in Preseason Week 2 vs. Bears

USA TODAY Sports

Todd Davis, Inside Linebacker

Todd Davis has been the Broncos’ starting linebacker next to Brandon Marshall (no, not that Brandon Marshall) for two years now. He’s been solid at the position totaling 112 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in his two years starting. Davis will be fighting to keep his starting spot due to a good camp from the Broncos fourth round pick from Iowa, Josey Jewell.

Jewell impressed in his first preseason game last week against the Vikings. The fourth round pick tallied five tackles in the game and was seemingly around the ball at all times. This isn’t good news for Davis, as his job isn’t guaranteed to stick by the beginning of the season. The Broncos’ ILB will need to make the most of all the reps he gets with the 1st team.

This will be a fascinating battle to see unfold the rest of the preseason. If Jewell leaves another good impression on the coaching staff this week against the Bears, we could see a change on the Broncos depth chart very quickly.
