Fantasy Football: Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Recommendations for Week 5

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

QBs to Start in Week 5

Falcons’ Matt Ryan (vs. Steelers): What’s not to like about Matt Ryan right now in terms of fantasy? Ryan has three straight weeks of 29 or more fantasy points. This week he faces a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has allowed the third most points to opposing QBs.

Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger (vs. Falcons): On the opposite sideline of Ryan, will be Ben Roethlisberger. This game will likely end up as a shootout between two teams who desperately need wins. The Atlanta Falcons allow the fourth most points to opposing QBs this year.

Vikings’ Kirk Cousins (vs. Eagles): Kirk Cousins could be in for a big Week 5 performance. Cousins faces a Philadelphia Eagles defense who has struggled stopping the pass, allowing 30.4 points to Marcus Mariota in Week 4. Give me Cousins this week as a top QB play this week.

Other QBs I Like: Jaguars’ Blake Bortles (vs. Chiefs), Redskins’ Alex Smith (vs. Saints), Raiders’ Derek Carr (vs. Chargers)

QBs to Sit in Week 5

Browns’ Baker Mayfield (vs. Ravens): Baker Mayfield looked decent in his first NFL start in Week 4. He turned the ball over four times, which can’t happen against a tough Baltimore Ravens defense that allows the third least amount of points to QBs this year. The Ravens also get Jimmy Smith back this week.

Seahawks’ Russell Wilson (vs. Rams): I know when it comes to Russell Wilson, it’s tough to sit him in fantasy. This year he isn’t producing much, scoring less than 16 points in three out of the four weeks. He faces a tough Los Angeles Rams defense that always seems to have his number. I’d avoid Wilson this week if possible.
