Dallas Cowboys
The expectations were substantial for the Dallas Cowboys entering last season. It’s safe to say that finishing with an 8-8 record and failing to make the playoffs did not meet a satisfactory level. There’s plenty of reason for optimism surrounding this team in 2020, though.
What held the Cowboys back the most last season was their inability to pull off victories against teams with winning records. Overall, that was a major issue for Dallas throughout the Jason Garrett era, prompting Jerry Jones to finally make a change at head coach by hiring Mike McCarthy.
The overview results the Cowboys achieved on offense were already dynamic and adding CeeDee Lamb should only elevate their impact. Teams won’t be able to focus on slowing down Amari Cooper and Ezekiel Elliott as easily since they have to account for not only just Michael Gallup but for Lamb, too.
It’s not fair to completely blame Garrett for underachieving results because offensive coordinator Kellen Moore called the plays on offense. In his first season in such a role, there were clear shortcomings at times but it’s difficult to believe he won’t improve in his second year.
