Melvin Gordon
Predicted team in 2020: Houston Texans
The Houston Texans went into the preseason last year, excited to see what Lamar Miller would do in his third season with the team. But after Miller suffered a devastating knee injury, the Texans were forced to find a contingency plan.
Before the regular season kicked off, the Texans made trades to acquire Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson. In their first season together, Hyde and Johnson combined for 1,480 rushing yards and eight touchdowns; with Hyde contributing 1,070 yards himself.
However, Hyde and Miller are set to become free agents, with the Texans showing no signs of bringing either back next season. Among the available options, Melvin Gordon could garner attention from the Texans.
Despite having a dismal season with the Chargers in 2019, Gordon has still shown flashes of being a dynamic back in the NFL. It goes without saying that the Texans should address the offensive line regardless of who is in the backfield. With that being said, a duo of Gordon and Johnson could be what is needed for Houston’s offense to take a step forward.
