Saints: Can They Get it Done in the Playoffs?
The level of success the New Orleans Saints have achieved in the regular season over the last few seasons has been nothing short of impressive. However, they have come up short in the playoffs each time, failing to even reach an NFC Championship Game.
It’s simply unacceptable to finish with a 13-3 record and lose in the Wild Card Round as the Saints did against the Minnesota Vikings. There were a couple of holes that were exacerbated by the matchup that New Orleans looked to address in the offseason.
The Saints struggled to keep interior pass rush from getting to Drew Brees and all wide receiver not named Michael Thomas combined for two receptions. To address both areas, they signed Emmanuel Sanders then drafted Cesar Ruiz to move Erik McCoy to guard.
When comparing to other top teams in the NFL, the Saints have a complete roster. It’s officially now or never when it comes to winning a Super Bowl with Drew Brees under center as he’s widely expected to retire after the 2020 season. Will they finally get the job done?
