Los Angeles Chargers: Offensive Line

A weakness the Los Angeles Chargers seemingly haven’t managed to figure out for years has been their offensive line. They traded Russell Okung to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for Trai Turner, who will slot at right guard. Los Angeles also signed Bryan Bulaga.

Both Turner and Bulaga will start on the right side of the offensive line, but there are potential concerns. For starters, Bulaga is impactful but he has struggled to stay healthy at times. As for Turner, he has been ineffective since playing at a high-level years ago.

The left tackle plays a pivotal role in pass protection and the Chargers have unproven options to lean on in 2020. They will need one of Trent Scott, Sam Tevi, or Trey Pipkins to earn the starting role as the clear-cut option and play much better than they’ve shown to be capable.

The Chargers’ other interior offensive line spots in addition to Turner face concerns heading into 2020, too. At left guard, Dan Feeney remains slotted as the starter despite underwhelming production in recent years. Meanwhile, Mike Pouncey is coming off an injury-riddled season and has underachieved as of late.
