Arizona Cardinals
The lack of results the Arizona Cardinals’ defense achieved during the 2019 season put the team in difficult situations to pull off wins at times. In the 2020 NFL Draft, they used a first-round selection to bring in Isaiah Simmons out of Clemson.
There is extensive versatility that is brought to the table by Simmons. He played can either linebacker position, cover the slot, and even line up at safety, it’s all about his team’s preferences. The Cardinals will play him at inside linebacker primarily.
The Cardinals will designate Jordan Hicks as the main starter at inside linebacker, but who will fill the role alongside him? There appears to be a potential competition between free agent signing De’Vondre Campbell and former Clemson standout Isaiah Simmons.
The unique set of intangibles Simmons brings to the table will make it difficult for the Cardinals to not embrace his skill-set as much as possible, as soon as they can. However, Campbell brings 54 games as a starter.
