Seattle Seahawks
The ongoing effort to solidify the offensive line to keep franchise-quarterback Russell Wilson from facing substantial pressure from pass-rushers throughout games has yet to be fully sorted out.
The Seahawks parted ways with D.J. Fluker earlier in the offseason and will need a new starting right guard as a result. Seattle used a third-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft to add Damien Lewis out of LSU and he will be in the mix for this role.
The main player Lewis will be competing with for the starting job is Phil Haynes. The Seahawks brought Haynes in using a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He wasn’t activated from the PUP list until Nov. 5 and didn’t make his NFL debut until the team’s 17-9 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round.
It’s difficult to anticipate who will win this role but Haynes does have the advantage of already having a full-year with the Seahawks organization. That established familiarity could help early with landing the job.
