Julian Okwara, Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions selected Jeffrey Okudah with the third overall pick. They also landed D’Andre Swift in the second round which could be viewed as a steal. The biggest steal for Detroit is Okwara out of Notre Dame.

There is no secret that the Lions needed defensive help. Matt Patricia knows that he must sure up the unit or he could be searching for another job soon. Okwara will add a difference maker immediately. He is a pass rusher from the linebacker position. He totaled 13 sacks over the last two years for the Irish.

Okwara’s best asset is his versatility. He can do many things in the middle of the defense. This fits in well for what Patricia will want to do. Okwara is returning from an injury but when healthy, he will add something to Detroit that they have been missing for quite some time.

The Lions will need to use as much of their young talent as possible in 2020. Okwara is one that will be on the field early and often.
