The NFC is one of the toughest divisions year in and year out in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This year it will be no different. With so much focus going to the quarterbacks of the NFC South, the running backs are a bit under appreciated. While the focus will be on the running game, more running lanes will be open for their backs.
The NFC has some incredibly versatile talents like Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara who will without a doubt be in the running to lead the league in all-purpose yards. However, they are not the only talented players the NFC South has in the backfield. Atlanta made a brought in the very talented Todd Gurley. Tampa Bay has a promising young talent in Ronald Jones.
While McCaffrey and Kamara are usually in the “best back in the league” discussion, Todd Gurley and Jones both have something to prove. However, they are on opposite ends of the spectrum. The 25-year-old Gurley wants to prove he is still a dominant back, and his struggles last season were mainly due to the Rams poor often line play. Ronald Jones wants to prove he can be a starting back in the league.
