2. Saquon Barkley, New York Giants
Entering his third season, Barkley is already a top-five running back in the NFL. While his production hasn’t caught up to Ezekiel Elliott’s yet, Barkley’s potential is jaw-dropping.
As a rookie, Barkley led the NFL with 2,028 yards from scrimmage, and he also scored 15 times. He ran for 1,307 yards and caught 91 passes for 721 yards. He’s one of the most versatile players in the league and is arguably the most well-rounded back in the NFC East.
Barkley did take a step back this past season. He missed three games and only produced 1,441 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns. However, the Giants changing quarterbacks and injuries caused that slight dip. With an entire offseason to get healthy and Daniel Jones entering his second season, Barkley should rebound in 2020.
In terms of pure physical freakishness, no one can match Barkley’s combination of agility, power, and speed. The Giants must create better openings for him this coming season. They can’t waste Barkley’s incredible talent.
With Barkley, Elliott, Adrian Peterson, and Miles Sanders in the fold, the NFC East arguably boasts the best starting running backs in the NFL. However, that title hinges on Sanders taking a large step in 2020 and Barkley returning to his previous form.
