3. Michael Gallup, Dallas Cowboys
Gallup had a breakout season in 2019, with 66 catches (on 113 targets) for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns. Amari Cooper is the headliner and highly-paid man in Dallas’ wide receiver group, but his numbers (79 receptions on 119 targets for 1,189 yards and eight touchdowns) were not that much better than Gallup’s last year.
The Cowboys notably added another piece at wide receiver, drafting CeeDee Lamb in the first round. So Gallup’s target share seems sure to drop…until you see that Dallas ran two-thirds of their plays out of “11” personnel (one RB, one TE, three WR) last year, and the departures of Randall Cobb and Jason Witten leaves 166 targets behind from last year.
Gallup has established chemistry with Dak Prescott, whereas Lamb has to work on that quickly when on-field work gets going before Week 1. The quick demise of the third-year man out of Colorado State is being overstated, and he’s naturally underrated.
