Stephon Gilmore, Cornerback

Obviously, there is no chance that the Patriots are going to trade arguably the best cover cornerback in the NFL. However, since we’re talking about dream trade targets for the Packers, Stephon Gilmore has to be included on this list.

Gilmore put together a huge season in 2019 for the Patriots. He finished the year with 53 tackles, one fumble recovery, six interceptions, two defensive touchdowns, and 20 defended passes. He has now had back-to-back seasons with 20 defended passes, which is an impressive stat.

Can you imagine a Packers’ defense that had Gilmore on one side of the field and Jaire Alexander on the other? Kevin King would be the best No. 3 cornerback in the league.

This will not happen, but it is fun to think about. Green Bay would have one of the most feared secondaries that any team has had in a long time.

  1. The only one I’d think about is Hightower. And that’s pushing it.

The other two, no way. Edelman would go to Tampa before coming to GB. He still might.

Why Gilmore? We have a good secondary. Only Hightower makes any sense, and GB can’t afford it.
