No. 4 — 2005 Divisional Round vs. Rams

Date: January 15th, 2005

Score: Falcons, 47; Rams, 17

Because the Falcons came into this game and blew the Rams out of their own dome, this represents yet another game in which the final game statistics wouldn’t tell a requisite story.

His end of game numbers were: 12-of-16, 82 yards, and 2 touchdowns. On the ground, he had eight carries for 119 yards, and even found time to catch a pass for two yards.

The Falcons scored at least nine points in every quarter. And, they doubled St. Louis’ score early into the third quarter, a 35-17 lead. By that time, the Falcons had little reason to continue punishing the Rams through the air; Vick threw just four more passes.

He was content to do it on the ground. And by game’s end, only three teams in NFL history produced more single-game rushing yards than Atlanta’s 327. The highlight for Vick came through a 47-yard run that highlighted his world-class elusiveness. They once again fell victim to Philadelphia’s elite defense, but 2004-05 was a magical run for the Falcons.
