Ravens: 3 early expectations for Baltimore rookie LB Patrick Queen in 2020

Expect Big Plays from Queen

Patrick Queen is the prototypical modern NFL linebacker. Traditionally he would be considered undersized. However many linebackers now are responsible for covering fast receiving tight ends or running backs out of the backfield.

Queen should have no issues covering tight ends, linebackers, even some wide receivers. He is an excellent cover linebacker capable of creating turnovers and frustrating quarterbacks with his coverage ability.

While his coverage ability is the most enticing trait of Queen’s game, he is no slouch on run defense either. While Queen did not start for LSU until this season, his numbers are still impressive. He is a physical linebacker who uses speed to break through the offensive line. He is a strong tackler in the open field as well.

While those numbers are a bit deceiving because Queen did not start until last season, they are still strong numbers. The Ravens have plenty of star power on defense. They have one of the best secondaries in the league.

Free-agent signing Calais Campbell will provide excellent pressure upfront while still stuffing the run. With so much talent, Queen will be responsible for controlling the middle of the field and making big plays when opportunities arise.
