Vikings’ Success In Run-Game Is Scheme Related
Nearly every team of Mike Zimmer’s have been based around a running game and stout defense. Cook most definitely helps the Vikings move the ball accordingly but he isn’t the only reason why they’re able to run the ball so well.
It’s no secret anymore, Zimmer still has an old-school mindset where he wants to run the football down his oppositions throat. Not to discredit Cook’s ability but playing in a system such as the Vikings — he’s almost guaranteed to get 20-plus touches a game.
Cook isn’t the one at fault — he’s running the system he’s currently in. But would he be considered the same level of running back if he was on a different team?
Maybe, but know body has the answer, at least for now.
