Jason Garrett Values Tight Ends
The New York Giants made changes to their organization in the offseason with the coaching staff facing plenty. Now at head coach is Joe Judge along with Jason Garrett filling the offensive coordinator role. This could benefit Evan Engram considering Garrett emphasizes the tight end position.
When healthy, Evan Engram provides the New York Giants with that type of impact. It has helped the young tight end to be one of the better yardage players at his position since entering the league in 2017.
As Pro Football Focus noted, Engram trails only Travis Kelce (77), George Kittle (65), Rob Gronkowski (65), Zach Ertz (64), and Darren Waller (61) in receiving yards per game since 2017. For reference, Engram has averaged 52 within this period.
With an expectation for consistent involvement in the Giants’ offense, Engram could post significant numbers in 2020. He could be a safety blanket for Daniel Jones at times in Garrett’s offense like Jason Witten was with the Dallas Cowboys, but ultimately, will be ready to make big plays.
