Round 3, Pick 84: Akeem Davis-Gaither (LB, Appalachian State)
Watching Littleton depart in free agency was definitely a tough pill to swallow for the Rams. Over the past two seasons, Littleton evolved into one of the best linebackers in the NFL.
Nonetheless, Los Angeles is left with a major need at inside linebacker heading into the draft. In an attempt to replace Littleton’s versatility, the Rams could find themselves having a chance to take Akeem Davis-Gaither with their No. 84 pick.
Despite being undersized at linebacker, Davis-Gaither was able to record 101 tackles, eight deflections, five sacks, and an interception in 2019 at Appalachian State. At just 6-foot-1, 224 pounds, Davis-Gaither plays above his eight, proving that he can shed blocks in the run game.
Drafting Davis-Gaither, if he bulks up a bit more, would give the Rams a viable replacement for Littleton at inside linebacker. Or at the least, Davis-Gaither would give Los Angeles’ new defensive coordinator, Brandon Staley, a Swiss-Army knife to utilize on defense.
