3 reasons the Browns should make a major run at Jadeveon Clowney

Clowney is an upgrade over Olivier Vernon

The full-time starting defensive end for the Browns opposite of Myles Garrett was Olivier Vernon last season. He started in all 10 of the games he appeared in but produced underwhelming results compared to his 2018 performance with the New York Giants.

Having the opportunity to upgrade Vernon with Jadeveon Clowney is an opportunity the Browns shouldn’t take lightly. The have yet to shell out salary cap spending to bring back Vernon and they could use that as a perfect change to pursue Clowney.

The Browns’ only free agency addition at defensive end has been Adrian Clayborn. His reputation is that of a solid rotational player that can come in and make an impact throughout games, but that’s it. Adding Clowney would provide Cleveland with significant depth when factoring in Vernon.
