4 early bold predictions for the Chicago Bears’ offense in 2020

Will Regret Not Signing Larry Warford

The Bears lost Kyle Long to retirement in January and the team’s plan to replace him seems to be to start German Ifedi at right guard. He primarily played tackle for the Seattle Seahawks and is not necessarily a sure fire answer at this position.

After the New Orleans Saints decided to release Larry Warford, the Bears were mentioned as having an interest in signing him. It would make sense considering the three-time Pro Bowl guard is significantly more proven at right guard than Chicago’s current options.

Warford, 28, was a third-round pick by the Detroit Lions in 2013 and signed with the Saints in 2017. He took the next step as a player during his time in New Orleans and managed to earn 44 starts during his 48 regular-season with the team.

It turns out the Bears are ‘no longer considering’ the possibility of signing Warford and that may be an indicator they weren’t actually interested, to begin with. It appears to be a genuine mistake for Chicago to not go out and make an upgrade at the guard position to help bolster the offensive line.
