4. The Broncos’ Offensive Line Must Improve

It was a real struggle for the Broncos to keep the pass rush from getting to the quarterback in this outing. It ended up costing Denver their franchise-quarterback for most of this game and potentially for a few weeks. As one might expect, the spotlight is on the offensive line for an explanation.

It’s understandable for any offensive line to struggle when trying to handle the Steelers’ pass rush. However, allowing the opposition to get to the quarterback for seven sacks and no shortage is simply concerning.

Overlooking the Week 1 performance the Broncos’ offensive line had would be unfair. Denver kept the Titans from recording a sack in that outing. The main issue was the lack of healthy weapons for Lock to throw to and produce sufficient results to win.

Without Lock in the lineup for however long that may be, it will be especially important for the Broncos to maintain a clean pocket for the quarterback. The conditions will need to enable Jeff Driskel to succeed as opposed to hinder his execution.
