Adrian Peterson
The running back situation for the Lions is in a strange position heading into the team’s Week 1 matchup with the Bears. Both Kerryon Johnson and D’Andre Swift are dealing with injuries, resulting in Detroit needing to sign Adrian Peterson.
It was a bit of a surprising decision made by the Washington Football Team to release Peterson, making him available for the Lions to sign him. It’s understandable to embrace young talent in a rebuild, but his leadership is valuable to have, nevertheless.
The expectation is that Peterson will receive a substantial number of snaps in his Lions debut. Will he be able to turn back the clock and put together a dynamic outing against a tough Bears defense?
If the answer to that question is ‘yes’ then watch out for the Lions. That type of impact could be more than enough to make things easier on Matthew Stafford in his return to the lineup, setting up play-action and forcing the defense to play an honest approach.
