Jeff Okudah
The silver-lining to a terrible season for the Detroit Lions was being able to select Jeff Okudah in the 2020 NFL Draft. After losing former No. 1 corner Darius Slay in free agency, this was a needed addition to the team.
The Lions did add Desmond Trufant in the offseason, but the expectations for Okudah will be high early in his career. The potential he displayed at Ohio State should give Detroit all the reasons they need to believe he can check some of the NFL’s elite receivers.
The current expectation is that Okudah is not going to be the No. 1 corner for the Lions entering his NFL debut. He hasn’t managed to earn that role but still should see key snaps against the Bears.
Facing simpler matchups could help Okudah to be in positions to use his playmaking ability. Whether that amounts to a key broken up pass or even an interception, if that were to happen, it could help swing the outcome of a close game.
