4 players who must step up for the Minnesota Vikings in 2020

Without a doubt, the Vikings defense is what took the biggest hit in free agency. Among the veterans they released or let walk in free agency, Linval Joseph anchored the interior of Minnesota’s defensive line for the last six seasons.

But with the Vikings being limited on cap space, they chose to release him in an attempt to create some wiggle room financially. Following Joseph’s release, Minnesota chose to replace him with Michael Pierce in free agency.

As an undrafted free agent out of Samford, Pierce has been able to carve out a role with the Baltimore Ravens over the past four seasons. Altogether, Pierce has combined for 3.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, and four fumble recoveries in his four seasons. Seeing that he’s replacing Joseph, the Vikings hope Pierce can have a breakout season in 2020.
