Philip Rivers Needs a Super Bowl
Philip Rivers should go down as a Hall of Fame quarterback. However, without a Super Bowl, Rivers will always have his doubters. Last season, we saw a dramatic decline in his play as he nearly threw as many interceptions as he did touchdowns.
The blame can’t be placed solely on Rivers considering the Chargers’ offensive line was one of, if not the, worst offensive lines in the NFL. That’s been the case for many years.
In order for the Colts’ offense to reach its true potential Rivers is going to need a bounce-back year. Brissett will serve as the very capable backup, but if Rivers can cut down on the turnovers last season wasn’t terrible. Giving Rivers more time in the pocket means fewer ‘fifty-fifty balls’ and a more favorable turnover ratio.
In order for the Colts’ running game to unlock its full potential they need a reliable passing attack. They need to force defenses to think twice about stacking eight men in the box with Rivers leading the charge.
If he wants to secure his position as a Hall of Fame QB, Rivers needs a Super Bowl victory this season.
