Houston Texans
Despite having high hopes heading into the 2019 season, the Houston Texans fell short yet again. They failed to hold onto their 24-0 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs during the NFL Divisional Round. They appear primed to take a step back in 2020.
Trading away DeAndre Hopkins is undoubtedly going to hurt the Texans, even despite acquiring Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb. Additionally, the team’s offensive line continued to underwhelm in 2019 despite acquiring Laremy Tunsil and that likely will continue next season.
There are plenty of questions the Texans face in regards to their defense, too. Houston made selections in the NFL Draft that could provide a boost right away like Ross Blacklock and Jonathan Greenard but are still downgrades. Additionally, the personnel in the secondary is still insufficient.
There are other members of the AFC South that will be stronger in 2020 than they were last season. The Indianapolis Colts made a variety of key additions and while the Tennessee Titans likely won’t go on as deep of a playoff run this go around, they won’t be easy to stack up against.
