Ezekiel Elliott Reclaims All-Pro Status
The focus surrounding Ezekiel Elliott heading into the 2019 season was on his holdout that ended in early September. He rejoined the team after spending what would have been his training camp in Mexico doing private workouts to stay prepared.
Elliott got off to a slow start to his usual standards and that resulted in him producing reduced results. He led the NFL in rushing yards per game in 2016 (106.7), in 2017 (98.3), and in 2018 (95.6) but his output dipped to 84.8 per game last season. That will change in 2020.
It’s not a one-way benefit for the Cowboys’ wide receivers when it comes to playing with Elliott. With even more receiver talent, there will be plenty of situations when opposing teams prioritize slowing down Dallas’ passing attack and are willing to sacrifice run support.
Whether it’s First-Team All-Pro or Second-Team All-Pro, it’s difficult to envision Elliott not earning one of those spots. It’s almost a lock for Christian McCaffrey to land one if he stays healthy but Elliott is more than capable of out-dueling anyone else in contention.
