WRs to start in Week 2

Cowboys’ Michael Gallup (vs. Falcons): Following a tough battle with the Rams in Week 1, the Dallas Cowboys will get to feast against an abysmal Atlanta Falcons defense in Week 2. The Falcons just allowed Wilson to throw for 322 yards and four touchdowns this past week.

Provided that, Dak Prescott and the trio of WRs for the Cowboys should all be must-starts in Week 2. As good of a play Amari Cooper is, Michael Gallup, who’s averaged 16.8 yards per reception in his last 15 games, is an intriguing option in fantasy football this week versus Atlanta’s porous secondary.

Colts’ T.Y. Hilton (vs. Vikings): Seeing that Rivers is a bounce-back candidate in Week 2, so is his No. 1 target in T.Y. Hilton. In his first game with Rivers, Hilton caught four of his nine targets for 53 yards against the Jaguars.

On a positive note, Hilton saw nine targets in an offense that should continue to throw often in games. Plus, Hilton will get a chance to face the Vikings, who allowed a whopping 79.4 fantasy football points to WRs in Week 1 against the Packers.

Patriots’ Julian Edelman (vs. Seahawks): Besides the Vikings, the Seahawks were the team to give up the most fantasy football points to opposing WRs in Week 1. Seattle’s defense allowed Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, and Russell Gage to all post 100+ yard games this past week.

In light of that, while the Patriots don’t have an explosive WR corps, Julian Edelman — and even N’Keal Harry — are viable options in Week 2. Edelman served as Newton’s favorite target in Week 1, catching five of his seven targets for 57 yards.

Other WRs to consider in Week 2: Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb (vs. Falcons), A.J. Green (vs. Browns), Bears’ Anthony Miller (vs. Giants), Colts’ Parris Campbell (vs. Vikings), Packers’ Allen Lazard (vs. Lions)

WRs to sit in Week 2

Panthers’ Robby Anderson (vs. Buccaneers): Upon the arrival of Teddy Bridgewater, the Panthers surrounded him with an array of weapons. But in Week 1, it was Robby Anderson that excelled, hauling in six of his eight targets for 115 yards and a touchdown.

Despite Anderson’s ability to stretch the field, it’s hard to trust Bridgewater to get him the ball deep consistently. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers — who Anderson and the Panthers will face in Week 2 — allowed only 20.2 fantasy football points to WRs in Week 1 versus the New Orleans Saints.

Texans’ Brandin Cooks (vs. Ravens): There was speculation surrounding who was going to replace DeAndre Hopkins as the Houston Texans’ No. 1 wide receiver. If Week 1 is any indication of who it will be, Will Fuller looks poised to have the best season of his career — barring injury of course.

On the other hand, after coming into the game with a nagging hamstring injury, Cooks saw just five targets in Week 1, catching two of them for 20 yards. Until we see Houston’s WR situation unfold, it’s probably best to bench Cooks, who faces a stingy Baltimore Ravens secondary in Week 2.
