1. Philip Dorsett, Seattle Seahawks
Throughout his career, Philip Dorsett has been labeled a bust. To this point that has been for good reason. However, this season, Dorsett may finally live up to that first-round potential. Don’t count on him as your fourth or fifth option at receiver, but he may be worthy of a late-round flier. If you need to fill in a roster spot, he may be a surprising pick that could be in for a surprisingly good year.
The Seattle Seahawks have an incredibly talented quarterback in Russell Wilson. However they don’t have much depth at wide receiver. Besides Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, Wilson didn’t have much to work with last season at wideout.
Dorsett is going to be the third option this year. Dorsett still flashed the ability to stretch the field. For a mobile quarterback like Wilson that can buy time, this could be a perfect match. Assuming Josh Gordon or Antonio Brown do not sign with Seattle.
Although the Patriots are always successful, Dorsett didn’t really fit their scheme. He is a deep threat receiver but Brady and the Patriots were an offense that preferred short timing routes. He will have more opportunities to showcase his skill set in Seattle. Having a quarterback like Wilson will help maximize every receivers’ potential.
Dorsett may finally be able to shake off the bust label that’s haunted him throughout his career. Don’t expect him to lead the league in receiving or anything. However, 750 yards and five or more touchdowns are obtainable, making him a more than viable fantasy football sleeper.
