The 2020 season is going to be a difficult one to gauge from a fantasy football perspective. While the star players are still going to be fantasy relevant, there are always surprise players. However, because there will be no preseason it will be hard to evaluate who those surprise players are. It will take some time to find these sleeper players.
Often the best fantasy football teams are the teams that find those diamonds in the rough. DJ Chark, DJ Moore, and Devante Parker were three big-name sleepers last season who made a name for themselves last season. All of these players were late-round picks. In many leagues, Chark wasn’t even drafted. Drafting a late-round gem is what can turn a bottom their team into a champion.
While NFL teams know who the rising stars are, this season fans are not able to see the progress of young players. Many young receivers in high octane offenses are going to have bigger roles this year. Some receivers have quarterbacks that are returning from injury.
There will be plenty of opportunities for receivers to rise into stardom. However, with the rise of one receiver may come the fall of another. It will be interesting to see the shifts in power at the wide receiver position.
Next season, there is a big opportunity for a lot of receivers. While most are younger receivers who will be getting expanded roles, a few veterans may be primed for a comeback year. It will be exciting to see which players rise to the top. Players like Terry McLaurin, AJ Brown, and DK Metcalf are probably already high on draft boards, excluding them from ‘sleeper’ status.
With that being said, there are the top six late round sleeper wide receivers for fantasy football players during the 2020 NFL season.
