4. Preston Williams, Miami Dolphins
Preston Williams’ NFL journey to this point has been a wild ride. While he had potential in college, teams passed on him due to some off-the-field concerns. However, Williams took that and used it as motivation.
During the preseason, Williams caught the attention of many die-hard fans with his crisp route running and footwork. Williams made the Dolphins final 53, but he did not stop there. While healthy, he led all rookie receivers in targets. However, an ACL injury cut his season short. This season could be a breakout year for the Dolphins’ young receiver.
Although Preston Williams could be considered a big-bodied receiver, he runs very crisp routes. He has fluid hips and great feet that create separation. If he cannot create separation, Williams is tall enough and strong enough to win one-on-one matchups. He will get plenty of opportunities for those matchups as the Dolphins’ secondary receiver.
While DeVante Parker had a breakout season last year, Williams may have a better season than him this year. Last season, Parker didn’t catch fire until after Williams’ injury. Until that point, Williams may have been the more reliable receiver.
The decision on the quarterback position is still up in the air, however, Ryan Fitzpatrick is a proven veteran and rookie Tua Tagovailoa has shown promise. Neither quarterback will truly hinder the wide receivers’ potential. Preston Williams could shine this upcoming season and fantasy football players should take notice.
