Jarvis Landry
Ever since the end of the 2019 season, some people have penned Odell Beckham Jr. as a wide receiver to avoid in 2020. However, it’s his LSU and current Cleveland Browns teammate, Jarvis Landry, who fantasy football players should be wary of taking.
Dating back to his days with the Miami Dolphins, Landry has been a PPR monster, hauling in 80+ catches in each of his first six seasons. Just last season, Landry was able to record a career-high 1,174 receiving yards in his second year with the Browns. So all signs point toward him performing even better in 2020, right? Not necessarily.
Upon the hiring of Kevin Stefanski, Cleveland is expected to deploy more 12 personnel. Along with that, they’ll utilize the running game more often. Therefore, even though the Browns want to see more from Baker Mayfield in 2020, with a healthier version of Beckham, the addition of Austin Hooper, and a backfield of Nick Chubb/Kareem Hunt, it’s tough to envision Landry seeing 138 targets again like he did a season ago.
As of this moment, Landry is the 25th wide receiver being taken in ESPN leagues. That puts him ahead of guys like DeVante Parker and DJ Chark. Both Parker and Chark are both the No. 1 option on their respective teams. Plus, both will be playing behind in the majority of their games next season. Above all, Landry may not be ready in Week 1 due to undergoing surgery on his hip this offseason. All signs point toward Landry failing to live up to his current ADP in 2020.
