Giants QB Tommy DeVito’s Chances To Be Starter In 2024, Revealed

The emergence of Tommy DeVito as the New York Giants’ starting quarterback has evolved into a captivating narrative in football.

With DeVito temporarily assuming the reins for New York and the team enjoying success, the question arises: could he potentially secure the starting position for the Giants in the opening week of the 2024 NFL season?

BetOnline, an online sportsbook, is already entertaining this possibility by offering odds on DeVito starting in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL regular season at +200.

A $100 bet on DeVito as the Giants’ Week 1 QB could result in a $200 win. Conversely, the odds of DeVito not being the starter for that week stand at -300, meaning a $300 bet on this outcome could yield a $100 return.

It’s crucial to note that the Giants have Daniel Jones, who is sidelined for the remainder of the 2023 NFL season due to injury. New York recently committed to Jones with a four-year, $160 million extension in April, including $81 million in guaranteed money at the time of signing. The significant investment in Jones suggests a preference for him to resume his role under center once he recovers from the torn ACL injury suffered in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

However, if Tommy DeVito continues to elevate the Giants’ story by leading the team to the playoffs, the quarterback situation in New York might be more flexible than commonly perceived.

So far this season, DeVito has played in six games. He has completed 65.9 percent of his pass attempts for 855 yards, eight touchdowns, and just three interceptions. DeVito has also picked up 154 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

The Giants appeared to be facing insurmountable odds when they started the 2023 NFL season with a dismal 2-8 record. Nevertheless, they have staged an impressive three-game win streak and are now in contention for a playoff spot, defying initial expectations.

Next up for the Giants will be a Week 15 matchup against the New Orleans Saints on the road. It’s a big game and another chance for DeVito to prove that he can be a starter for New York past this season.
