Indianapolis Colts: Studs and Duds From Preseason Week 2

Stud: Quincy Wilson

Wilson didn’t look very good in the Colts first preseason matchup with the Seahawks, but he bounced back as the Colts highest rated defender in the matchup against the Ravens. He finished the night with an 88.2 overall grade and a 91.5 coverage grade by Pro Football Focus.

Wilson was targeted four times, allowing just one catch for six yards. He also had two pass breakups in the loss to the Ravens. On one play, Wilson upended Lamar Jackson in the open field and the ball squirted free and Wilson landed on it, but it was eventually ruled down by contact.

During training camp, Wilson wasn’t as productive as I thought he’d be. During practice, it often seems like he’s one of the guys who should be better. But there’s no denying that he’s simply a good player when the lights come on and it’s actually time to play.

There’s not a corner on the roster that’s more skilled and has produced more than Wilson, so as long as he keeps showing up on gameday the Colts have no choice but to give him the starting cornerback spot.
