Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs’ running back group is probably its biggest question mark coming into 2020.
Damien Williams opted out of the season and a large workload will be placed on Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the first-round draft pick out of LSU. Whether he’s ready for it or not, he most likely will be the starter in the backfield for the defending Super Bowl champs.
With Williams going to be a year removed from football, who knows what he’ll be like for the 2021 season. Edwards-Helaire will have a season under his belt, but the Chiefs could use a veteran like Todd Gurley to help spread out the snaps.
Gurley would bring a bit more size to the position than their rookie and would be another weapon to pair alongside Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs will monitor how well Edwards-Helaire transitions to the NFL before pursuing Gurley.
