Miami Dolphins
You know your running back situation is bad when 37-year-old QB Ryan Fitzpatrick leads all players in rushing.
The Dolphins had a revolving door at the running back position last season and it appears that will be the case yet again this year. They signed Jordan Howard to a two-year deal and traded for Matt Breida, who will be a UFA in 2021. Kalen Ballage will desperately need to improve from his poor showing last season where he averaged 1.8 yards per carry in 12 games. Patrick Laird also is an option for the Dolphins.
Howard hasn’t come nearly close to his breakout season in 2016 with the Chicago Bears. Even if Breida works out, he’s in a contract year and was too inconsistent last season with the 49ers.
Bottom line – the Dolphins need a running back and should consider all options, including Todd Gurley.
